This yearly festival is a celebration of new and unusual explorations in music and performance. Central to the event is music created using made and/or found instruments, or utilizing odd tuning systems. Past performers/composers/ instrument builders have included Pauline Oliveros, William Winant, Carla Kihlstedt, Walter Kitundu, Bart Hopkin, and many others. Also on the bill are text and visual performance works. Thingamajigs Festival aims to share new work done new ways, either through finding new sounds or through putting art practice into new contexts.

See our website for links and complete details:

This year’s festival line up includes:

+ A. L. Dentel’s suite for small ensemble playing wineglasses, water, and stones, (“Five Meditations on Sleep”)

+ the metamorphic textures of Cheryl Leonard’s piece, ” Umi” , performed on amplified sand and granite

+ a short piece for Bobrowski’s “Harmonic Slide”, an instrument utilizing the frequencies generated by a movable speaker inside an acrylic tube

+ Judy Halebsky and Elizabeth Gilbride in text/movement piece “How to Listen ”

+ Edward Schocker’s “Netori”, a piece for two electric guitars and 20 overtones; performed by the inimitable Ava Mendoza and the inevitably overwhelming Wayne Grim
