Made & Found Instrument Workshop
On June 17th I conducted a special workshop at Yotsuya Art Studium (in conjunction with Kinki University) in Tokyo, Japan. Each student brought in objects that made beautiful or unusual sounds. We mixed and matched them to come up with bizarre contextual counterpoints, and created structural improvisations during this process. Everyone brought in some crazy objects and we had a great time.
By the way, the other “westerner” you see in these photos is none other than the infamous Carl Stone. He gave a wonderful lecture the week before and was gracious enough to join in on this workshop. Thanks Carl!!
Yotsuya Art Studium is a one-of-a-kind experimental art center in Tokyo. The students and staff were wonderful to work with. For more information, please visit their website, which is located on my Recent Events page.
